Thriller!

Heading to Kingsbury Hall,
a fabulous sunset (not by my cameras standard),
but we enjoyed nonetheless!

Last Saturday, Oct. 25, the children, Brian, Colleen and Mel, Maureen and George enjoyed our traditional evening of lively (deathly) entertainment, at Kingsbury Halls production of Thriller.
The kids enjoy the walk as much as the show,
playing leap frog and walking along the historical walls of campus.

Creepy, creepy, sure you want to come inside!

"Thriller," an Odyssey Dance Company Production, is playing at Kingsbury Hall. The Halloween-themed dance concert includes amazing performances, creepy sets, and a variety of music genres.
This production is in its tenth year. Many of the routines have become audience favorites and staples in the production. The favorites include seasoned performances such as "Dem Bones," "Frankenstein & Frankenstein" and "River of Blood Dance."

"Thriller" is a great Halloween experience for those with a morbid sense of humor. Families and couples can enjoy this event because of the concert's humor and fast-paced feel. This is a great dance concert for those who don't usually like ballet, opera and other forms of High Art. However, some jokes and themes might be lost on young children.

As patrons enter Kingsbury Hall they are greeted by various original scores from popular scary movies. Some of the tunes include Guns 'n Roses "Sympathy for the Devil" from the movie "Interview with the Vampire" and Halloween favorites like "Monster Mash."

Zombies saunter through the crowd scaring all who cross their paths, as ushers whisk audience members to their assigned seats. The zombies swarm those who react to their presence.
The dance concert begins with the Odyssey Dance Company's performance of Michael Jackson's "Thriller." One of the audience's favorite performances is "Dem Bones." This routine features tap dancing skeletons. The dark stage is lit by a black light and dancers wear costumes with skeletons painted on with black light pain.
One of the classic stories is Frankenstein, which begins with Dr. Frankenstein's creations waking up. The dancers act out a comical and somewhat touching love story of boy meets girl, boy accidentally kills girl.
"Thriller" also pays homage to the horror movie classics like "Friday the 13th" and "Halloween" by featuring performances by the notorious movie killers. "Jason Jam" and "Michael's Mire" are individual performances that showcase different dancing techniques such as hip-hop and a comical, percussive symphony.
The program even thanks Freddy Krueger, Jason Voorhees and Michael Myers along with other groups and individuals as people who've helped create "Thriller."
Young dancers are featured in "Chucky-Rama." This showcases them dancing around dressed like the Chucky Doll from the "Child's Play" movies.
Besides dancing, "Thriller" showcases other talents. For example, Mindy Lilyquist sings a medley of cheesy songs as Lorena Bobbitt. When pieced together the songs including Aerosmith's "Dude, Looks like a Lady" tell Bobbitt's side of the story.

Five Stars, every year. What a blast!

“You will have significant experiences. I hope that you will write them down and keep a record of them, that you will read them from time to time and refresh your memory of those meaningful and significant things. Some may be funny. Some may be significant only to you. Some of them may be sacred and quietly beautiful. Some may build one upon another until they represent a lifetime of special experiences.” ~Pres. Gordon B. Hinckley
