Favorite Halloween Memories

Guilty as charged for being nostalgic right now but I do have so many wonderful memories of my grandmothers. I look forward to planning Halloween parties patterned after my Grandmother Nina for years to come. A little white donut on a string, picking up pennies in the old tin tub - using only your toes. Rolling string in your mouth to get to the center the fastest; the judge - a puffy white marshmallow, that sweet treat was worth all the silliness. Grandma was always the best at that game. Bobbing for apples. Peanut Brittle, chocolate Rice Krispie treats. Little jars of candy, all shapes and sizes, even leftover Christmas candy was craved by those who played the game; guessing the number in the jar, winning the prize. Always a favorite. Halloween Bingo, and prizes to boot. Great food, friendship, family and fun. Grandma was so creative, and had a way of making each and every one of us feel that we were her favorite, the most precious child in her arms. Love you Grandma. Happy Halloween!

“You will have significant experiences. I hope that you will write them down and keep a record of them, that you will read them from time to time and refresh your memory of those meaningful and significant things. Some may be funny. Some may be significant only to you. Some of them may be sacred and quietly beautiful. Some may build one upon another until they represent a lifetime of special experiences.” ~Pres. Gordon B. Hinckley
