Seeing a Dunlap Broadside

The State Capitol building hosted a viewing of the Declaration for two days
(actually a copy called a Dunlap Broadside.)

How amazing the building looks, we would know.

We stood in line for about 3 hours.

Well worth seeing. Even the kids didn't mind the wait!

Utah state Capitol officials estimate that nearly 8,000 people
journeyed to the newly restored building Friday to get
a peek at a rare copy of the Declaration of Independence,
currently on a national tour promoting voter registration.

Yes, we were there!
It was so amazing to see this document;
known as a Dunlap Broadside.
It is a printed version of the original handwritten statement.

The renovation of the building was spectacular.
Beautiful to see. If you get a chance, take a day, have a picnic.
Go see this part of our history. Take a tour. See the beautiful Senate,
House of Representatives, Supreme Court rooms, see the artwork!
So much to learn. I love the edison lights. Go and find out why!!!
(Hopefully I will post pictures from today when I get them downloaded!)

“You will have significant experiences. I hope that you will write them down and keep a record of them, that you will read them from time to time and refresh your memory of those meaningful and significant things. Some may be funny. Some may be significant only to you. Some of them may be sacred and quietly beautiful. Some may build one upon another until they represent a lifetime of special experiences.” ~Pres. Gordon B. Hinckley
