Footprints

We all leave footprints as we travel through life.
Sometimes we follow in someone
else’s footsteps and try to do as they do. But others are watching us, and they may try to
follow in our footsteps. Everything we do leaves an impression on someone, just as our steps
would leave a footprint in soft ground. When we do something good, we set a good example
for others; when we do something wrong we set a bad example. Ruth and Naomi knew the
importance of both following and being good examples. Ruth was kind (Ruth 1:8).
Ruth was loyal (1:16). Ruth wanted to worship Heavenly Father (1:16). Ruth worked
hard (2:2). Ruth’s posterity was blessed by her obedience and desire to follow
Heavenly Father. Her great-grandson was David, the boy who fought Goliath
and who later became the king of Israel. David was an ancestor of Jesus Christ.
What can you do to be a good example to others?
What will your footprints leave for others to follow?

“You will have significant experiences. I hope that you will write them down and keep a record of them, that you will read them from time to time and refresh your memory of those meaningful and significant things. Some may be funny. Some may be significant only to you. Some of them may be sacred and quietly beautiful. Some may build one upon another until they represent a lifetime of special experiences.” ~Pres. Gordon B. Hinckley
